How to Write Good ChatGPT Prompts

A ChatGPT prompt is a way of telling ChatGPT what you want it to do or say. It can be a question, a command, a scenario, or a topic.

Below are some tips for creating the perfect ChatGPT prompt that will get you the best results:

1 - Use an Action Word. This tells ChatGPT what you want it to do, such as write, generate, create, summarize, etc.

2 - Provide Background. This helps ChatGPT understand the situation and the purpose of your prompt. You can provide context by giving background information, setting the scene, or explaining the goal or trigger for the query.

3 - Use Role Play. This makes your prompt more engaging and realistic. You can use role play for yourself by pretending to be someone else, such as a customer, a friend, a 5-yr-old kid etc. You can also give ChatGPT a role to play, such as a teacher, a friend, a coach, etc.

4 - Describe the Contents to Include and Exclude. This helps ChatGPT avoid ambiguity and confusion, and give you exactly what you need.

5 - Specify the Audience. This helps ChatGPT match the response to the reader. Examples are 5-yr-old kid, potential customer, social media viewer etc.

6 - Specify the Format. This helps ChatGPT understand what kind of response you are looking for. Examples are ranked list, table format, step-by-step instructions, poem, tweet etc.

7 - Specify the Length. This helps ChatGPT know how much text to generate for your prompt. You can include the length of the response by giving a word count, a sentence count, or a time limit.

8 - Specify the Tone. This helps ChatGPT match your mood and intention with your prompt. You can specify the tone by using words or phrases that indicate how you want ChatGPT to sound, such as formal, casual, funny, serious, etc.

9 - Avoid Confirmation Bias. This helps ChatGPT avoid generating responses that are biased, inaccurate, or offensive. You can avoid bias by being careful in how you phrase your prompts. Use neutral language, check facts, and be respectful of different perspectives.

10 - Iterate your prompts. This helps you get the best possible response from the AI. You can experiment and iterate by trying different prompts, editing, rewriting, adding, or removing parts of them until you are satisfied with the result.
